Well that weekend just flew by!
I can't believe it's Tuesday already. Where did my weekend go? Saturday morning Jacob and Joseph had a baseball game. I re-started the Couch25K program and did Week1 Day 1 while the boys were at the batting cages before their game. It was a 30 min walk/run workout. After their game, we spent the day laying around watching college football.
Sunday we took the boys to Tribble Mill and walked the 2.1 miles around the lake on the trail. It was more a stroll in the woods than a walk around the lake but it was really nice to just take our time. The boys really enjoyed it and can't wait to go back.
Monday (yesterday), Jacob stayed home sick. I took him to Minute Clinic for a strep test which was negative so it looks like he's just got a cold. No fever so he's back to school today. Ben started complaining that he wasn't feeling good yesterday but never ran and fever so he went to school today. The boys have their last baseball game tonight (Championship game) so my plan is to do the Couch25k program (week1 day2) before their game starts. Tomorrow is weigh in day if I can muster up the courage to get on the scale.
Til tomorrow....

Today started out really crappy. I woke up barely able to keep my eyes open long enough to send the kids off to school and then I fell back to sleep on the couch. Tired was an understatement this morning. I'm glad I did lay back down because I woke up feeling a lot better.
I have been meaning to look at apps for my Droid Eris to see if there is anything that I can download that will track the distance I am walking/running when I am at the park. I finally remembered to do this this morning when I had the time. I found an app (My Tracks) that had mostly great reviews and the best part...IT'S FREE =) I downloaded it, grabbed the dog, and out the door I went. It's a beautiful day! Sunny and 72 degrees. Perfect for a hike through the trails. I started the app right at the entrance to the trail, tucked it in my bra (because where else would I carry my phone?), and off I went. In the end, I had walked 2.08 miles. Very close to what my friend Stacy had been told. I was talking to another friend last night at the ballpark who told me about a turn off on the trail where I am missing that last mile of the 5K. I saw that turn off today. Yep, straight up hill. Umm...I decided to keep on the path I was on. I'll tackle that hill another day ;)
A perfect day for a walk around the lake!
Cheers!

A day for celebration!
Today is Wednesday, October 13, 2010 and it's a day for celebration in so many ways! First and foremost, the miners that have been trapped for 69 days in Chile are being rescued!! It's a long ordeal but so far it's going as planned. It's currently 10am and they just brought up the 13th miner. Such a wonderful day!
Today is also a great day because Ben gets his cast off! You'd think this is more exciting to him than me but I would challenge you on that as my OCD has really come into play with this stupid cast. His hand is always dirty and it just freaks me out. Having to bathe him every night as opposed to throwing him in the shower is a royal pain in the butt! And...it SMELLS! Yes, of course he is thrilled too. He's been counting down the days and was up before I could wake him up this morning. LOL Lord PLEASE, let his wrist be healed!!
And lastly, I will call this a day for celebration as I made it to the park today and walked/jogged the trail. I LOVED it! It was so peaceful. I have been told that the trail that surrounds the lake is 2.1 miles and I completed it in 29 mins. Not so bad for my first time. I definitely think I need a heart rate monitor as I felt myself getting dizzy a few times while jogging and told myself to just push through it. I have got to get used to running outside and get off the treadmill...that's fo' sure! I can't wait to go back tomorrow =)
Celebrate!!!

A new day indeed
Today is a new day, indeed! Unfortunately I wasn't able to take the dog to the park as I just didn't think I would have time to do that and make it home in time to shower before my hair appointment so I hopped on the treadmill instead. It definitely was a tough start after not running since Friday but I am glad I pushed myself through it. I forced myself to run 1.5 miles again and did it in 19 mins 32 secs!!! I know running the road & trails will be slower but I am thrilled with this achievement. In my mind (yes, I know I live in my own little world), I can double that and that will be my 5K time, right? RIGHT???? Ok OK, I know in all reality I can double that and add like 20 mins and that will be my 5K time. Maybe that's my fear of actually signing up for the 5K with a friend is that I know that person will finish and get so tired of standing around waiting on me to finish that they will just pack up and leave and I will have no one to take my pictue as I cross the finish line. LOL
Here's to hoping I can get out of bed tomorrow...

It's Monday...time for a due over!
My weekend went pretty good..until yesterday. Saturday I stuck to my regular meal. We made a fire in our fire pit and decided to let the boys roast marshmellows and make S'mores. This is one of my favorite things to do in the Fall. I only roasted 3 marshmellows and made myself 1 S'more. Not so bad.
Sunday was a different story. We went to a birthday party for a friend's little girl who was turning 4. There was lots of food and plenty of beer. I don't know what happened to my discipline but I must have left it at home. I ate so much and drank 3 beers. UGH! Needless to say, I paid heavily for it last night while I tossed and turned until after midnight. I kept telling myself that if I would just relax and fall asleep that today would be a new day...a due over.
Well, it sure was a new day. A day that started with Aunt Flo's arrival. *insert rolling eyes* I don't know what must have been going through my mind, but I thought it would be a great idea to weigh myself on top of having this newest *guest* arrival even though I told myself ...ONLY.WEEKLY.WEIGH INS!!! I have lost 1 lb. ONE POUND! So now I am thinking that I will wait another week for that "weekly weigh in". Sigh.

Old dogs can learn new tricks
This morning was a great start to the weekend. Two of my great friends (Stacy and Ali) met me at the park to walk the trails. I must say I was hesitant to walk trails as I have always known them (or thought I knew them) as hilly but I found that I had a great time! I loved being in the woods and how peaceful our walk was. When we first got there, the lake had an early morning mist over it. It was beautiful and so calming. The weather was beautiful and the temp was so crisp. Perfect! Stacy had warned me about the *one* hill we would encounter. I had no problem with it =) There were a few smaller hills and a few little creek areas that we crossed. I am just so surprised how much I really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll get the boys up Monday morning (no school) and take them out there. THANKS Stacy and Ali for meeting me. Let me know when we can do it again =)
Go Dawgs!
NOTE TO SELF: Make appt with eye doctor to get contacts. My glasses kept fogging up.

It's FRIDAY!!!
It's Friday...the start of a weekend and for me lately it's been more like the "wing-end". We've gotten wings the past few weekends and drank beer, ate wings, and well, watched our beloved Bulldogs lose =( BUT...I feel this weekend will be different in many ways. FIRST and foremost..we will NOT be eating wings this weekend. And of course, our beloved Bulldogs WILL win this weekend..I can just feel it!
This morning had to be proof that it is going to be the start of changes for the weekend. I RAN a mile and a HALF! The first mile was another accomplishment as I finished ahead of my old time. I finished in 13.15 minutes as opposed to yesterday's 13.45 minutes! Baby steps, right?! The grand total time for the mile and a half was 20.10 minutes. Yes, go ahead and do the math...I had to slow down after I felt like I sprinted the last quarter of a mile for the first mile. LOL But the important thing is I didn't walk..I.KEPT.RUNNING (in my best Forrest Gump impression).
Tomorrow will start bright an early as I am meeting my friend Stacy at the park to *walk* the trails. Yeah, for those of you who know Stacy know that by the end of our *walk*, I will be chasing Stacy. LOL I'm really looking forward to it. THANKS STACY! Who knows, maybe I will take a liking to the trails ;) After that, it's baseball and then an afternoon of cleaning this house. Hoping to get a big ol' fire going in our new fire pit and I bought the makings for some S'mores. I'm going to try to only have 1. =)
Here's to FRIDAY.. *CHEERS*

Day 1...UPDATE
Ran 1 mile in 13.45 mins! That's down from my last mile in 14.12 mins. PROGRESS! =)
Today will be a good day!!!

Day 1...the official start and posted stats
BEWARE: Disturbing picture below!
So today is the official first day with stats. I was weighing and measuring this morning after Jacob and Ben went to school and before Joseph went to school and Joseph decided he wanted in on this too. Anything that looks like competition to him and he's in. At first I told him I'd take his measurements later but knowing that would probably happen days from now, I decided why not so I weighed him and took his measurements. I will be including those here and posting updates for him as well. He has decided he doesn't want to play basketball this winter so maybe this will be something for him to focus on. I will admit, I was surprised when he got on the scale. That was not the number I wanted to see for him.
I went ahead and dressed in my workout clothes and have even looked at some 5K races that are taking place within the next couple of months. I feel like if I go ahead and sign up for one, I will have that to look forward to but the anxiety is quite high. I was reading someone's blog yesterday who was really obese when he ran his first 5K only 17 days after starting any kind of walking/jogging and made it so even though it might take me 42.36 mins (my last mile took me 14.12 mins), I know I will cross the finish line. LOL
As my friend Kat says, that's my waxing strip on my belly. LOL Weird sunning at the beach but hey, I wore a bikini top. The first time my belly has seen the light of day since 1989! =)
Today's stats:
Weight: 182 lbs (on the scale that refuses to go below 180)
Right arm: 11.5 inches
Left arm: 11 inches
Chest: 39.5 inches
Waist: 37 inches
Hips: 43 inches
Right thigh: 21 inches
Left thigh: 21.5 inches
Joseph's stats:
Weight: 158 lbs
Right arm: 11 inches
Right arm: 11 inches
Left arm: 11 inches
Chest: 36 inches
Waist: 33 inches
Right thigh: 18.5 inches
Left thigh: 18 inches
Height: 5'5"

Fattening up for the Winter..NOT!
Today is Tuesday, October 6, 2010. Today is the day I will take hold of my life. I'm not big into committing so who knows if this will actually happen or not but from what I have heard and read, if you make it public (or write it down), you're more likely to stick to it so here I am making it public and writing it down. I'm ready to stop being lazy. I'm ready to take hold of my weight issues and have a healthier life. For my family and for ME! I'm going to take it one day at a time. I know there will be highs and lows and I know this is a life style change...not a diet! I know that I need to exercise and I need to pass this knowledge and lifestyle on to my children. Joe and I have always *joked* that we are "fattening up for the winter". Well, not this winter and not anymore. I'll be just fine packing on some extra clothes instead of extra pounds! Besides, hopefully clothes shopping will be more fun over the next few months =)
Stay tuned....
