I have got to remember about this blog. It's a great way for me to keep track of my work outs and training. I just can't seem to remember it. Oh well...
Last Saturday (2/19/11), all 5 of us ran Run the Reagan 5K! It was great! Perfect weather (mid 60s) and sunny! Way different from last year's snow run. There were lots of people and I thought I was going to feel totally overwhelmed but I was completely relaxed. We all started off together but Joseph and Jacob quickly pulled ahead and out of sight. I stayed steady and even strided (sp) and the next thing I knew, I was passing the 1 mile marker in 11 mins. Then the hills hit! I was able to run without stopping for the first 1/2 of the race but once I hit the turn around, there was a huge hill and I had to walk that. Then I was able to run again until the next hill. In looking back on it now, I think that walking, running, walking, running might have hindered me a bit because once I saw the finish line and decided I was NOT walking across it and started running again, my legs were not happy. I am wondering now if I had granny jogged some of the times I had walked if maybe my legs wouldn't have gotten used to walking and maybe it wouldn't have been so hard to start back up again at the end. I don't know if this is true or just my thinking but it makes sense. Anywho, I finished in just over 42 mins. I'm so proud of myself and my entire family!! What a huge goal we achieved together. The boys did amazing and so did Joe and I. Now we all have a starting time to try to beat in future 5K races. =)
Saturday afternoon, we all headed to the ballpark for Jacob's scrimmage game. I have no idea how that boy played baseball (much less, catcher) after running a 5k (in 35 mins!!). After Jacob's game, Ben (and Joe) had baseball practice and Joseph helped out for that. By the time Ben's practice was over at 7:30pm, we were all exhausted.
Sunday I took Joseph and Ben to Joseph's scrimmage game and Joe and Jacob headed out to Jacob's scrimmage game. After Joseph's game, we headed over to Jacob's game. That night Jacob was so sore and we all realized he ran a 5K, played a baseball game (as catcher) that same day, and then played another baseball game as the catcher the next day! By the end of the weekend, we were all spent!!
Monday I met Ali and Julie at Bay Creek for my first ever bike ride. We rode 11.5 miles in just over an hour! I had so much fun and burned over 700 calories!
Tuesday I went to group swim and had an awesome workout. Burned 422 calories!
Today is Wed and I am going to ride at Bay Creek during Jacob's practice tonight.
Tomorrow I will probably ride again...I am loving it!]
Friday morning I am going to take the River boot camp class at the pool and Saturday the group is meeting at Tribble Mill to do some hill work..OH BOY!!!
I'll report later....
